Olathe, KS – Three Teens Injured in Rear-End Crash on I-35
Olathe, KS (August 7, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash occurred on Tuesday, August 5, around 5:02 p.m. on northbound I-35 just south of Santa Fe in Johnson County. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), an 18-year-old driver from Ottawa rear-ended a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old from Topeka as traffic slowed down.
The 18-year-old driver did not report any apparent injuries after the crash. However, the 17-year-old driver of the vehicle that was rear-ended, along with a 15-year-old and a 13-year-old in the same vehicle, sustained minor injuries. All three were transported to Overland Park Regional Hospital for treatment.
Authorities confirmed that everyone involved in the crash was wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident, which likely helped prevent more severe injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Kansas Highway Patrol. Our thoughts are with the teens involved, and we wish for a full and swift recovery for those injured.

In this case, the teenagers in the rear-ended vehicle were fortunate to be wearing seatbelts, which likely minimised the severity of their injuries.
