Norman, OK – Several Hurt in Accident on I-35 near N Flood Ave
Norman, OK (August 16, 2025) – Several people were hurt Thursday afternoon following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 35 southbound near North Flood Avenue in Norman.
According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol radio reports, the collision—called in on August 14, just before 2:46 p.m.—involved between two and five vehicles, including a red Volkswagen and a black passenger car. Witnesses at the scene reported that some of the individuals involved appeared to have suffered head injuries. Emergency medical crews and Norman police officers arrived within minutes to provide care and secure the area.
The incident came after earlier reports of reckless driving in Norman near Gray Street and the Civic Center, raising questions about whether those actions contributed to the wreck. I-35 near Flood Avenue is a heavily traveled stretch of highway where midday congestion often increases the likelihood of chain-reaction crashes.
Traffic on the southbound side was slowed while responders treated victims and cleared the damaged vehicles. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash and whether erratic driving may have been a factor.
