Johnson Co., KS – 3 Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on I-35 Near 119th St

Johnson County, KS (October 14, 2025) – Three people were injured on Sunday, October 12, following a wrong-way crash on Interstate 35 near milepost 220, close to 119th St. The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) reported that the multi-vehicle collision occurred just before 3 a.m.

According to investigators, a 2020 Honda Civic was traveling south in the northbound lanes of I-35 when it struck a 2015 Nissan Altima that was attempting to move onto the left shoulder to avoid impact. After colliding with the Altima, the Civic then hit a Nissan Versa.

The Civic’s driver, identified as 21-year-old Cooper Gobin of Shawnee, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The drivers of the Altima and Versa suffered minor injuries and were also evaluated by medical personnel.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the wrong-way crash and have not released additional details. Our thoughts are with those injured, and we hope for their full recovery.
