Fairbault, MN – Three-Car Accident with Injuries on I-35 near MM 59
Faribault, MN (July 19, 2025) — A three-vehicle collision involving a maintenance tractor, a Honda SUV, and a Ford pickup truck resulted in injuries on Thursday morning, July 17, along northbound Interstate 35 near mile marker 59 in Rice County.
The crash occurred shortly before 9:00 a.m., drawing a response from Faribault Police, Fire personnel, and North Ambulance crews. Emergency responders assessed those involved and transported one individual—identified as Brandee Leigh Mcnutt of Owatonna—to Faribault Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
According to authorities, the incident unfolded when a 2025 Honda Pilot collided with a John Deere 6145M maintenance tractor. Moments later, the Honda was struck from behind by a 2023 Ford F-150. The driver of the Ford, James Dale Blunt of Iowa Falls, and the tractor operator, Jonathan George Malecha of Northfield, were not injured in the crash.
Conditions at the time were clear, and officials confirmed that alcohol was not a factor. The deployment of airbags in the Honda suggests the vehicle sustained a heavy impact during the collision.
Traffic was temporarily slowed as crews cleared the scene and initiated an investigation into what led to the crash. Authorities continue to review all contributing factors.
We extend our best wishes to Ms. Mcnutt and all involved and hope for a smooth recovery.
