San Antonio, TX – One Killed, Another Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on I-35 /Downtown
San Antonio, TX (October 20, 2025) – A devastating wrong-way collision claimed one life and left another person critically injured on Sunday, October 19, on Interstate 35 near downtown San Antonio. Police reported that 42-year-old Carlos Guerra was driving a blue 2021 Chevrolet Silverado south in the northbound lanes when a Bexar County sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop him. Despite flashing emergency lights, Guerra continued driving and crashed head-on into a white 2024 Chevrolet Express van near St. Mary’s Street.
The impact killed a 50-year-old woman who was a passenger in the van, while the 50-year-old male driver was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Officers said Guerra exhibited signs of intoxication and was arrested at the scene. He now faces charges of intoxication manslaughter and assault.
