Oakland Twp, MN – Three-Vehicle Collision on I-35 Leaves Two With Life-Threatening Injuries
Oakland Twp, MN (October 21, 2025) – Multiple emergency agencies responded to a serious three-vehicle crash on October 18 on northbound Interstate 35 near County Road 46 in Oakland Township, Freeborn County.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 1999 Ford Explorer was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-35 when it struck a 2025 Honda CR-V. Moments later, a 1997 Chevy pickup traveling northbound collided with the Ford.
Authorities reported that two people suffered life-threatening injuries. A 30-year-old woman from Mankato and a 54-year-old woman from Medina were both transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment. Two others sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Mayo Clinic in Albert Lea.
The Ford driver, a 25-year-old man from Austin, was among those hurt. Alcohol was not a factor in the collision, and all involved vehicles had airbags deployed. Responding agencies included the Albert Lea Fire Department, Albert Lea Police Department, and the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office.
