McClain Co., OK – Semi-Truck Accident Causes Injuries on I-35 near Purcell

McClain County, OK (July 27, 2025) – A deadly crash involving a semi-truck early Sunday morning, July 27, forced the closure of northbound Interstate 35 near Purcell for nearly 11 hours as crews responded to the scene and conducted a thorough investigation. The fatal accident, which occurred around 4:30 a.m., brought traffic to a standstill and required extensive clearance efforts.

During the emergency response, a McClain County Sheriff’s deputy assisting with traffic redirection was struck from behind by another vehicle. Fortunately, the deputy suffered only minor injuries, received treatment at a nearby hospital, and has since been discharged to recover at home.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased or additional information about the sequence of events.
