Kansas City, MO – Minor Injury Crash Involving Three Vehicles on I-35 at Antioch Rd
Kansas City, MO (July 17, 2025) – A three-vehicle collision on southbound Interstate 35 left one man with minor injuries on Monday afternoon, July 14.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at around 4:50 p.m. near the Antioch Road exit in Clay County. The crash involved a 2020 Peterbilt truck, a 2024 Hyundai Sonata, and a 2013 Ford Fusion.
Officials said the Ford Fusion had stopped due to heavy traffic. The Hyundai Sonata began slowing behind it when the Peterbilt struck it from behind. That caused the Sonata to hit the rear of the Ford.
The 38-year-old man driving the Sonata was injured. Emergency crews took him to North Kansas City Hospital. The other drivers—a 61-year-old man from Eagleville and a 26-year-old woman from Columbus, Kansas—were not hurt.
The Sonata and Fusion both sustained moderate to extensive damage and were towed from the scene. The truck driver was able to drive away.
Troopers with the Missouri Highway Patrol, along with Kansas City Police, continue to investigate the crash. We hope the injured man makes a full and speedy recovery.
Rear-End Accidents in Kansas City
Rear-end crashes are among the most common types of accidents on Kansas City highways like I-35. They often happen in heavy traffic or when a driver is not paying attention. Even at low speeds, rear-end collisions can cause injuries and significant vehicle damage.
In this recent crash, one driver slowed for traffic and was hit from behind. These accidents often lead to neck pain, back injuries, and other soft-tissue damage, even when the injuries are labeled as “minor.”
Missouri law allows injured victims to seek compensation if another driver’s negligence caused the crash. Compensation can cover medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering. In cases involving commercial vehicles, the process may also include claims against trucking companies or their insurers.
If you’ve been hurt in a rear-end crash, it’s important to document the scene and seek medical attention. Speaking with a personal injury attorney can help protect your rights and ensure you receive fair compensation. Attorneys often work with accident experts and insurance companies to build strong claims for their clients.
Rear-end accidents can seem simple, but they often have long-term effects. Legal guidance can make a big difference in recovery and peace of mind.
