Johnson Co., KS – Wrong-Way Crash on I-35/119th St. Leaves Three Injured
Johnson County, KS (October 12, 2025) – A wrong-way collision early Sunday morning on Interstate 35 left three people injured, including one seriously. The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred shortly before 3:00 a.m. at milepost 220, near 119th Street. A 2020 Honda Civic, driven by 21-year-old Cooper Gobin of Shawnee, was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when it collided head-on with a 2015 Nissan Altima. Moments later, the Civic struck a Nissan Versa.
Troopers confirmed that Gobin sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency care. The drivers of the Altima and the Versa suffered minor injuries and were treated following the crash. All three vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage, forcing temporary traffic delays as crews cleared the wreckage.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into what led Gobin to drive in the wrong direction. Lanes reopened later in the morning after tow trucks removed the disabled vehicles.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims as they begin their recovery.
