Clay Co., MO – Two Hospitalized After Multi-Truck Crash on I-35 near Antioch Rd

Clay Co., MO (August 17, 2025) – Two people were hospitalized following a multi-truck crash late Friday morning, August 15, on Interstate 35, just north of Antioch Road in Clay County. The accident involved two commercial vehicles and caused significant damage and traffic delays.

Emergency crews from Troop A and local EMS arrived on the scene around 11:00 a.m. Paramedics evaluated and treated the injured parties before transporting them to North Kansas City Hospital. The victims included the 50-year-old driver of a 2025 Volvo tractor-trailer from New York, NY, and a 26-year-old male passenger from Mohegan Lake, NY.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when the Volvo slowed for traffic on southbound I-35. A 2018 Mack Truck LR, driven by a 26-year-old man from Gladstone, MO, was unable to stop in time and collided with the towed trailer of the Volvo. Both trucks were heavily damaged and later removed from the roadway by GT Tow and Express Tow.

Traffic was temporarily impacted as crews worked to clear the wreck and secure the area. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the collision.

Our thoughts are with those injured, and we hope for their full and speedy recovery.
